Religious Education and Religious Services
Immaculate Conception School exists for the purpose of witnessing to the
teachings of Christ by developing the spiritual attitudes and intellectual
abilities of each student. This goal
is to be accomplished by a whole-hearted celebration of the Liturgy and the
sacraments.
The goals and principles of the school are articulated by the Pope, by
the bishop of the Diocese of Metuchen, and by the
The non-Catholic student is expected to understand and agree that the
School exists to educate in the framework of Catholic values.
Non-Catholic students must participate in the Religion classes and
liturgical services scheduled for students during the school year. The school recognizes that parents have the primary
right and obligation to educate their children.
However, parents must cooperate with the school in preparing children to
fulfill their responsibilities to God and their fellow human beings.
Parents should regard the school as an extension of the religious
training in the home – not as a substitute for it.
It is difficult to conceive that a child could profit from in-school
religious instruction to any significant degree if parents do not provide for
regular Mass attendance and reception of the sacraments. Parents are primarily responsible for their
children’s reception of the sacraments of Penance and Holy Eucharist.
Class Masses are every Friday. On
First Friday, the entire student body assists at Religion permeates all aspects of school life and is
at the heart of the educational process at Immaculate Conception School.
All other subjects intensify and broaden the child’s growth as a whole
person. |
